Survey Suggests Number Of Graduate Vacancies Set To Rise
The Association of Graduate Recruiters (AGR) has released details of a new survey, which suggests that the number of graduate vacancies could rise by more than 10% in 2014.
Involving more than 200 organisations across 19 different industry sectors, the survey suggests that the IT & telecoms industry may see the biggest rise by as much as 40%.
HR Magazine reports that: AGR chief executive Stephen Isherwood warned that despite the positive results, graduates still needed to make an effort to succeed in the job market.
“We know that, even through the darkest days of the recession, our members reported unfilled vacancies because they couldn’t find graduates with the right mix of skills and attributes”, explains Isherwood.
“Graduates need to think carefully about their applications and ensure they understand what a potential employer is looking for.”
As a result of the survey, AGR also found that 55% of employers ran active school-leavers programmes.
