At Winn Solicitors, we provide exciting opportunities for graduates across a range of legal departments. Read on to find out more about what working for Winns could involve:

Clerks

If you’re looking to begin your career in a fast-paced role, with high levels of client interaction, the Clerks Team is the place for you. You’ll be managing your own caseload, giving you responsibility from day one.

You’ll be involved in negotiating with Insurers and Solicitors, valuing claims based on medical evidence, drafting court documents and ensuring that court deadlines are met. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in some advocacy work, attending local court hearings and case management conferences

A fast-growing department, Clerks offers excellent opportunities for promotion and progression, both within and outside of the department.

Costs

In light of recent industry reforms, working in the Costs department is more relevant, interesting and varied than ever. Case management is at the forefront of the industry now, so the Costs Department is an exciting place to be. If you like working with numbers, negotiating with other professionals and being involved in complex litigation, the Costs Team is perfect for you.

Working in Costs offers graduates an excellent grounding on which to become either a Costs Lawyer, or a Solicitor. You’ll see client fees from a different perspective, learn how to negotiate effectively with experienced professionals and use and apply the law to ensure the correct outcome.

Costs is a fast-moving area of the business, and those working in this department must constantly refresh their knowledge to ensure that they keep up-to-date with changes.

Trials

Our busy Trials Team deal with high volume, complex and disputed litigation. Sub-teams deal with complex issues including MIB, fraud, employer’s liability and complex injuries. The Trials Team actively encourages junior members of the team to diversify into any specialist sub-team, should they express an interest.

Due to changes in the industry, the Trials Team have excelled in identifying trends within litigation and implementing sound solutions, to be rolled out not only within the team itself, but also across the firm. The Trials Team offers the opportunity to gain real experience of litigating on complex cases.
